Some Thoughts on Father's Day

Some Thoughts on Father's Day

Every father is different, and has a different influence on his children.

Had he been alive would have crossed his century by this time.
though he was not a celebrity,he had his own stregths.
He was unique in his own way, totally unassuming personality, person of amazing grit and determination who  believed in  perfection, cleanliness and simplicity, faced many adversities and came out successfully.
I can recollect now how he used to share his stories of his early days of the large joint family he grewup with, his childhood in village, his travials as employee in Simla. Lahore, & Delhi.

Apart from his office work ,he spends most of the time in reading newspaper and hearing cricket commentaries on Radio.and listening to carnatic music.
He had the knack of keeping extreme calmness amid tough conflicts and this mostly resulted in automatic solution.
He always underplays his role, brief ,direct to the point and doesnot get excited like mother.
His emphasis on good education was the foundation on which we grew up.
Our books mostly from the eldersib or the second-hand shop.
Allunused papges from the old notebooks were stitiched together and used as rough note book.Though he never spent for himself,he never cringed to spend for us.Though not over energetic like mother he had the practical approch to all the problems.Mostly composed , enforced discipline through silence.
His favourite food is moolakootal with cheannai and vazakai

With his meagre income he sucessfully manged to brough up all the eight of us with good discipline.
What I love with him is that the value he attached to all things .wehter it is washing clothes, or cleaning the comb with  a pin,it is always methodical execution.

If I were to distill a few of the key things my dad taught me, I would say:Be your own man - ever stop. Keep growing and learning.

Don't let the SOBs get you down

- Be honest and simple
